For those of you that have been experimenting with Google+, you may have noticed that this new social network has a lot similarities with Facebook, not only in design but also in its features. One of them, and also the one I am going to be detailing in this article, is the ability for users to get a hold of their data for safe keeping.

Google is making it easy for anyone that wish to download a backup of all their personal information, contacts, images, circles, stream posts, and Buzz posts from Google+ to your computer for safe keeping, with a feature called Data liberation; and it be accessed by going to your profile menu, selecting Account settings and clicking on Data liberation.

There, you will find on the right-side the Download your data button, click it and enter your Google Account password.

Then choose All of your data and click the Create archive button. Alternatively, if you only need to download certain data from the service, Google Plus also gives you the choice to download data from a specific services, like from your Picasa Web Albums photos, Profile, Stream, Buzz, Circles and Contacts data.

Once the compilation of all your data is ready, click the Download button.

Google will ask you for your account password one more time and then your data will start downloading as a .htm file.

Just remember to keep this file in a safe place.
