Microsoft has introduced a new feature called aliases that is going to be very useful for many Hotmail users. Nowadays email has become a big part of our life, and a lot of people maintain more than one account in order to organize different activities, maintain privacy, or just to protect themselves from spam in the main inbox.
However, it can become overwhelming when you need to check all those accounts with different sign-in information, which is when having email aliases for one account is a more convenient way to manage multiple email address.
Note that with this new aliases feature from Hotmail, you will be able to obtain up to 5 aliases per year and for a total of 15 aliases.
How to create a Hotmail alias
- Login to your Hotmail email account, and the easiest way to start is to hover with the mouse pointer over Inbox, click the Gear, and select Create a Hotmail alias. Or just simply go to this page http://mail.live.com/?rru=createalias.
- Now create a new alias, choose if you want the email address with the @Hotmail.com or @Live.com, and click Create an alias.
- Once you find an email address that has not been taken, you will be asked where to deliver new emails sent to the alias address, to a new folder or to your inbox; choose one and click Done.
